Ok, so it might be a little late, but we’d like to congratulate our own Christian Nachtigall on finishing 5th in this year’s Art O’Neill challenge on January 7th.
For those who don’t know, the challenge is a hike or ultra run following the path of Art O’Neill and and Red Hugh O’Donnell as they escaped the British, running from Dublin Castle to the Wicklow mountains. It visits the spot were Art perished on that faithful evening.
So far, in this modern event, there have been no such fatalities.
A run of 55km from the city centre to Glenmalure in January is no easy task and Christian trained hard in the weeks previous, occasionally doing laps of the Phoenix park in the snow and all the training paid off.
Check out Christian’s blog for a more detailed report of his race.
Christian gets all of his kit from the shop. Some you can get online from us. Fuelled by PowerBar , he runs in his Salomon running shoes and regulates his body temperature with clothing from Helly Hansen , Montane and Salomon.
Christian is currently preparing for his next big event, a 50km run in Donadea and no, you can’t apply, it’s invitation only by the International Association of Ultrarunners . Serious stuff indeed.
We wish Christian ever luck with these future events and if you are interested in getting any information you can find him occasionally working on the shop floor.
