Last year, Crumlin’s Medical & Research Foundation set off on a unique challenge, “Climb for Kids”, the goal being to raise much needed funds for Crumlin Children’s hospital. People all over the country clocked up miles while raising money for the foundation through sponsorship. The challenge also incorporated a trek to the top of Kilimanjaro featuring some well know faces such as Síle Seoige, Kathryn Thomas, Alan Shortt, Karl Spain, Jenny Buckley, Ruth Scott, Darren Holden and Paul Byrne.
Our very own Kieran Creevy was the expedition leader and brought the celebs and several other participants to the roof of Africa, Uhuru, Kilimanjaro’s highest peak of 5895m. There was much laughter, tears and drama along the way, which was luckily caught on film. This very moving film will be aired
on RTE 1 on Monday, July 18th at 9.30pm and is well worth watching. All who participated in the event felt it was very much the single hardest thing that any of them will ever do.
It is not too late to donate and CMRF are taking donations through their website. If you miss the main showing, the documentary will also be running on RTE’s Real Player for 21 days after the original showing.
