Dave Fitzgerald Rock Climbing
Hometown: Wicklow
Occupation: Climbing Coach
Hobbies: Running, Stretching, Filmmaking, Planning trips.
Favourite Piece of Gear: The Go Travel Micro Fan for cooling down the holds in summer.
Greatest Achievement: Climbing the second ascent of Wonderland (8B) and Soul Revolution (8B+) on the same day.
Favourite bouldering spots in Ireland:  In order of preference: Lough Tay, Glenmalure, Glendalough, The Black Valley, Fairhead.
Advice to Beginners: Don’t get into the habit of making excuses. You are not too short or too tall, it is not too hot or too cold. If you wish to climb something, formulate a plan and go for it. There is always a way.
Goals:

Currently, my goal is to do the box splits by the end of August.

Aside from daily/weekly/monthly training goals, my goal is to climb a legitimate 8C by the end of the year (2017). I have already made plans to visit Austria and Switzerland later this year in order to achieve this goal. In Austria, my goal is to climb Bugeleisen Sit Start (8C) and Emotional Landscapes (8C) in Maltatal, both considered two of the hardest climbs in the world and have seen very few repeats.

My goal is to climb Burden of Dreams (9A) by the end of next year (2018).

I also wish to push my limits in Ireland and establish as many lines as possible. Home is always where the heart lies for me and there still remains so much potential.

I am going to enter the world of sport climbing this year and push my limits in that discipline too.

Another goal for 2017/2018 is to enter as many competitions as I can.
