It commences in Oughterard on the shores of Lough Corrib in Co.Galway, traverses Connemara and Mayo to finish on the Mayo/ Sligo border near Bunnyconnellan, a distance of 235 kilometres. This guidebook deals with the southern and most popular part of the walk from Oughterard to Westport in Co.Mayo. This part of the route is 101 kilometres (63 miles) in length and ascends some 1800 metres.
This guidebook, published in 2016 provides all you need to walk The Western Way. The maps & text are arranged to suit those walking from Oughterard to Westport. The definitive map guide comprises of a detailed 32 page booklet with full colour 1/40000 scale strip maps packaged in plastic wallet.
