The Terra GTX is a classic full-grain leather boot with instant, no-break-in comfort, built for low-level UK, Ireland & Scotland walking. The Cyrus 2 GTX is a lighter, more relaxed leather walking shoe suited to summer trails and everyday wear.

It depends on the model. Leather boots like the Terra GTX and Cyrus 2 GTX are designed for comfort straight out of the box, while stiffer, more technical boots such as the Ribelle TRK GTX or mountaineering-specific models that we carry like the Manta Tech, Mont Blanc or the Phantom series boots may need an element of breaking-in.

Most of Scarpa's technical boots are designed to be resoled at official SCARPA resole shops, extending the life of the boot well beyond the original sole's wear. Check the individual product page for confirmation, since not every style in the range is resoleable. We would say largely though it is anything on the more technical side.

The Manta Tech GTX (also available in a women's fit) is a 4-season mountaineering boot built for alpine extremes. If you need a fully rigid, B3-rated boot compatible with automatic C3 crampons for technical ice and mixed climbing, that's a step above the Manta Tech in Scarpa's range. For this case, we step it up to the Mont Blanc Pro, Phantom 6000, and then finally the Phantom 8000. It is worth noting we stock the Phantom 8000 on a special-order basis - contact us if you are interested in getting a pair.
