Scarpa

Founded in the Dolomites town of Asolo, Scarpa builds mountain footwear for the terrain you can see from its own workshop windows — steep, technical, and unforgiving in winter. The range here is deliberately narrow: the boots we currently hold are Scarpa's 4-season alpine and high-altitude models, the ones built for frozen ground, crampon compatibility and multi-day cold rather than summer trails.

That means the Manta Tech GORE-TEX, in both men's and women's fits — a Perwanger suede, GORE-TEX-insulated B2 boot for Alpine winter routes and Scottish gullies — alongside the Phantom 6000 HD, Scarpa's fully insulated 6000-metre expedition boot for the highest and coldest objectives. These sit at the technical end of our wider mountaineering boots range.

Every current Scarpa boot here is built on a GORE-TEX membrane for waterproofing and a Vibram outsole for grip on wet rock, snow and mixed ground. For crampon-compatible winter walking rather than full mountaineering, pair them with micro crampons. If you're comparing alpine brands, it's worth also looking at La Sportiva; for lower and less technical terrain, our full hiking footwear range covers three-season walking.

Not sure a full mountain boot is what you need? Our Dublin store team fit Scarpa in person and can talk you through the difference between a B1, B2 and B3 boot before you commit.
