Step One: Preparation
Begin by removing any removable harnesses and hipbelts from your backpack. Pay attention to hidden or detachable parts that may also require cleaning and drying.

Step Two: Cleaning
Use a mild soap with warm water in a bathtub or large sink to clean your backpack and its components, employing a sponge or soft brush for gentle scrubbing. Avoid harsh chemicals.

Step Three: Rinsing
Rinse the backpack thoroughly to eliminate all soap residues, ensuring both the interior and exterior are soap-free.

Step Four: Drying
Hang the backpack in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight for drip and air drying. Proper ventilation is crucial to avoid prolonged dampness.

Additional Note:
For travel packs with a High Road™ Wheeled Chassis, do not immerse in water. Clean by wiping the chassis and scrubbing the fabric with warm soapy water.

Nikwax & Grangers
For further care, Osprey recommends products from Nikwax and Grangers for upkeep and water repellency. Apply following the general washing instructions, and consider products like Nikwax’s Tech Wash and Grangers' Gear Cleaner for enhanced maintenance. Nikwax’s Tent & Gear SolarProof is also recommended for improving UV and water resistance.

Osprey

Since Osprey was founded in 1974, every single product design has passed through the hands of owner and founder Mike Pfotenhauer, who created his first backpack at age 16.

In Santa Cruz, California, he opened a retail shop in the front of his rental house where backpackers & travelers came for custom-fit, made-to-order packs constructed by Mike himself. As the demand for the great-fitting packs increased, Osprey relocated to its current home in Southwest Colorado.

Today, Osprey is a melting pot of diverse personalities, backgrounds and abilities. All share the common belief that adventure is open to everyone and found anywhere.
