Walk the Line this March and raise funds for the DWMRT

Walk the Line is a fund-raising event for the Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team which will take place on Saturday 23rd March 2024, starting mid afternoon and running into the night.

Walk the Line consists of two route options: a 22 km long route and a shorter 11 km route.
Both loops start and finish at the GAP (the Glencullen Adventure Park), just up the road from Johnnie Fox’s Pub.  The event aims to cater for both the seasoned hill-walkers and more novice walkers who want to give the hills a try with a super route around the Dublin Mountains.  With this in mind, DWMRT offer the option of being guided along the route by Rescue Team members or self-navigation for the more adventurous among participants. Either way you will have the opportunity to see Dublin laid out below you at night from the unique vantage point of the Dublin Mountains.

A group of guided walkers start out on the route of the DWMRT Walk The Line event in 2023

E-commerce and I.T. manager of Great Outdoors, Paul O'Neill, having a relaxing snorkel along the Great Barrier Reef

Contributing Expert - Paul O'Neill

Paul works across a large range of departments in the store, but, mainly known for his role as E-commerce Manager. With a background in the scouts of 37 year it’s no surprise Paul has such a vast knowledge of the outdoors. Paul’s biggest achievement is learning to swim as an adult which is up there with his first Liffey descent canoe race finish and surviving a fall into Pinnacle Gully on Benbulben. Paul’s favourite thing about working at the Great Outdoors is hearing about everyone’s great trips and adventures both from colleagues and customers. Paul's favourite item we sell is the Snugpak Softie sleeping bag saying while using it he’s “never ever had a cold night”
