Hestra is a family-owned company established in 1936 by Martin Magnusson in...you guessed it - the village of Hestra! They started making leather working gloves for lumberjacks and then made their way into snowsports gloves due to a slalom slope opening locally in 1937, as well as outdoor gloves.

Hestra gloves use a numbered size run. This goes from normally about 5 up to 11/12. You can find your Hestra Glove size by measuring the circumference of your hand at its' widest point (excluding your thumb) - best done using a fabric tape measure. Then measure your hand from the base of palm (where your wrist meets your hand) to the top of your middle finger. Once you have these measurements, you can perfectly size Hestra gloves.

This comes down to your preference! We recommend using a mitt if you feel the cold especially in your fingers, or have poor circulation as they hold heat better due to your fingers being together.

The trade-off is that you lose dexterity in your fingers that you would get with gloves.

They do - leather gets more supple and comfortable on your hand over time, but this is massively helped by continually waterproofing* and conditioning your gloves. Hestra gloves do come with their own conditioner packet and they can be treated with other branded leather conditioners.

*Some Hestra gloves do not have a specific waterproof membrane, so using a leather treatment is what keeps them waterproof.
