The Mountain Equipment Lhotse is the best-selling GORE-TEX Pro jacket Mountain Equipment makes — and has been for well over a decade. Built to Storm Construction standard, the Lhotse combines a 40D GORE-TEX Pro main body with heavier 80D reinforcement across the shoulders, yoke, and upper sleeves where abrasion from rock, rope, and pack straps does the most damage. • GORE-TEX Pro with ePE membrane — the latest generation of GORE-TEX Pro uses a stretched polyethylene membrane in place of the older ePTFE construction. The ePE version is PFAS-free, slightly more supple than its predecessor, and carries the same guaranteed waterproof and breathable performance as all GORE-TEX Pro fabrics. All seams are fully taped throughout.

Every detail of the Lhotse's build is oriented toward weather exclusion and long-term structural integrity: fully laminated pockets, laser-cut stormflaps, drainage channels on all zip garages, and a bonded hem that resists abrasion from crampon points and harness leg loops.
• 80D reinforced face fabric — the yoke, shoulders, and upper sleeves use 80D fabric where contact with rock, rope, pack straps, and hardware is heaviest. The main body uses 40D to keep weight and packability sensible. Solution-dyed backer throughout reduces water and energy consumption in manufacturing.
• Mountain HC Hood — helmet-compatible with three independent adjustment points: rear volume adjuster, two frontal Cohaesive cordlocks embedded into the face panel. Laminated and wired visor holds shape in high wind and maintains field of vision when wearing glasses or goggles. Seamless face panel construction sits directly against the skin without internal seam pressure.
• Alpine Fit with articulated sleeves — cut for layered winter use with a base layer, fleece, and midlayer underneath, not for a t-shirt alone. Pre-shaped and articulated sleeves allow overhead reach without riding up. Bonded laminated cuffs seal over a glove without snagging. Note: the Lhotse runs true to size for most users but if you are of slight build and plan to wear only thin layers, consider sizing down.
• Pocket configuration — two hand pockets and one chest pocket all use YKK AquaGuard zips with internal stormflaps, drainage channels, and zip garages; pockets are positioned for use under a climbing harness and large enough to store gloves. Stratum construction increases internal volume. One inner security pocket for small items.
• 2-way centre front zip — allows the hem to be opened for ventilation and freedom of movement on steep ground. Underarm pit zips provide additional airflow management on high-output approaches.
